A Special Christmas Gift!

Many of you responded to my previous newsletter with wonderful ideas about sharing Christ's love during the Christmas season. I thought of cutting and pasting each one, but then I received the letter below. It seemed to wrap all your ideas up together and tie them with a beautiful bow. I believe this letter is a gift to each of you. Keep the Kleenex close by...

Edwina,

Hi! I love Christmas with all my heart. I've celebrated with my children and now my grandchildren for years. We've made cookies, given gifts to the underprivileged and shared our home with others
throughout the seasons.

As my life changed a few years ago with the passing of my husband, I wondered what I could do to keep this passage of time alive in my home. I moved to a smaller condo so my space is limited.
But you know what? It's not the space that matters, it's the people that come over that still need that Christmas hug or word of encouragement. It's that gift to someone who thinks they're un-noticed. It's still all you can do for others that makes the difference!

Now, God has given ME a gift. Twenty-two years ago my 18 year old son had a child out of wedlock. A little boy that was adopted at three days old. It was a heartbreak and a turning point in our lives. My son became angry, but my husband and I became warriors for the unborn! It was a 180 from what we'd been doing all our lives. For years we've prayed to hear from this little one but to no avail. All of that changed yesterday! I received this email ... "My name is Michael and I'm looking for my birth parents and grandparents ... is it you?"

I cried for 20 minutes before I called my son. This was wonderful news! This 22 year old man is looking for closure for himself and his parents. He's a Christian! He's lived in a wonderful home and attended Christian school. Now, he's serving in the armed forces. It's opened up a door that was slammed shut by my son who never wanted to talk about him. Now, he's open to it all. He wants to meet him and see how he turned out.

Praise you Lord! Thank you Father for this wonderful Christmas present for our family. Psalm 37:4 says, 'Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." This was my desire and He's given it to me as a special Christmas present. I'm sure my husband knows, too.

Thank you for all the reminders you sent us. It only gives me more opportunities! Have the most blessed Christmas!
